Alex Haydon eyes green and gold in 2022

It’s been a blistering start to the year for Alex Haydon. The up-and-coming squash player won the women’s event at the Australian Open Doubles in January, alongside Rachael Grinham. Two weeks later, she took out the top prize in the women’s singles at the Gold Coast Open PSA, beating the likes of former world no.1 Grinham and 2018 Commonwealth Games representative Tamika Hunt.

Alex Haydon and Bryan Lim have clinched the top prize at the 2022 Gold Coast PSA Open. The Gold Coast PSA Satellite event, which took place from 28-30 January, was the first event of its kind this year with competition across Women's and Men's plus Men's Plate.

2022 Australian Doubles Open ends with a bang

Squash Australia would like to extend our condolences to the family and loved ones of Paul Vear, who sadly passed away yesterday afternoon. Vear’s passion for squash and racquetball was evident through his dedication and contribution to the sport, which saw him awarded an Order of Australia Medal (OAM) in the 2021 Queen's Birthday Honours List, An award he received late last year.

Australian Doubles Open gets underway this weekend

The first national event of 2022 will begin this weekend (22-23 January) as the Australian Doubles Open takes place at Carrara Squash Centre. The two-day tournament will see the Australian squash community reunited after travel restrictions and lockdowns over the past two years saw competitions decimated. It will also be a significant milestone on the road to Birmingham 2022 with players looking towards selection for Australia’s Commonwealth Games Team.

Rex Hedrick: Birmingham 2022 to finish on a high note

The Australian representative is looking to make his second Commonwealth Games team after debuting at Gold Coast 2018, where he made the Round of 16 in the Men’s Singles. However, this time around, he has turned his attention to the doubles events. Most of Australia’s success at the Commonwealth Games has come through the three doubles events on offer - Women’s, Men’s and Mixed - winning eight of their 11 gold medals.

Phase one of Squash Australia Learning Centre released

A Year in Review 2021
