Young guns shine on the first day of Australian National Championships in Darwin

The 2022 Australian National Championships got underway last night at Darwin Squash Centre with a handful of matches in the Men’s Open competition. Despite being six seeds lower than his opponent, Gregory Chan advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-2 (11-5, 11-7, 3-11, 2-11, 11-9) victory over No.5 seed David Turner.

2022 South Australia Open & Junior Championships wrap

The South Australian PSA Open and South Australian Junior Championships wrapped up on the weekend with Alex Haydon and Mike Corren taking the top honours. With players travelling from North Queensland, Tasmania, New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia to compete across the Junior State Championships and PSA Satellite event, it was an action-packed weekend at ARC Campbelltown.

2022 Australian National Championships Preview

Five of Australia’s athletes bound for the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games will headline the Australian National Squash Championships, which will get underway in Darwin this week, from 23-26 June. The Australian National Championships brings together the country’s top players and will feature five of Australia’s Squash Commonwealth Games team members with just under 40 days to go until the Birmingham Games.

Rachael Grinham eyes more medals at record-breaking sixth Commonwealth Games

Over two decades from her Commonwealth Games debut, Rachael Grinham is set to make a historic sixth Commonwealth Games appearance at Birmingham 2022. The Toowoomba-born player has become the equal-first Australian woman to achieve this feat alongside Jian Fang Lay (Table Tennis), and joins David Palmer OAM and Nicol David as the only other squash athletes globally to achieve this feat.

2022 Australian Junior Championships heads to Western Australia

Squash Australia is excited to announce the 2022 Australian Junior Championships is headed to SquashWorld Mirrabooka in Western Australia from 27 September to 2 October. Attracting players from across Australia, the blue ribbon event on Squash Australia’s calendar will be played at the largest squash centre in the country with 14 glass back courts.

Squash Australia legend Barbara Slotemaker de Bruine recognised in Queen's Birthday Honours

Squash Australia would like to congratulate Barbara Slotemaker de Bruine AM on her recognition in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours, as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). Barbara was National Coaching Director from 1988 to 1992, became Australian Coach of the Year in 1993, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from Squash Australia in 2010 for her services to squash over 50 years.

Facility Spotlight: Thornleigh Squash Centre

Squash NSW alongside Member for Hornsby and Treasurer Matt Kean MP officially opened the newly upgraded Thornleigh Squash Centre in May. Located north of the Sydney CBD, Thornleigh Squash Centre was built in 1979 and has had limited upgrades since that time.

Squash Australia is proud to announce their 12-player squad for the 2022 WSF World Junior Squash Championships in Nancy, France on 11-21 August. The Woden Squash Centre has been part of Canberra’s sporting landscape for the last 50 years. Originally built in 1969 by Colleen and Tom Slater, Woden Squash Centre, nestled in Canberra’s southwestern suburbs, started off with six courts before two more were added several years later.
