Published Tue 20 May 2025

The Easy Times Brewing Co. Australia Squash Tour continues today when the Swarmer SA Open begins in Adelaide.

The tournament is a PSA Challenger 9 event which takes place at Next Generation Memorial Drive with the action starting at 2:30pm ACST.

Australia’s #4 ranked women’s player Madison Lyon (QLD) enters the tournament as second seed, just behind Helen Tang from Hong Kong, China.

If the opening rounds go to form, Lyon is drawn to face New Zealand’s Ella Lash in the semi-finals, the pair familiar with each other over numerous battles in the junior days. Today marks one year and one day since Lyon secured her first PSA Challenger Tour title when she defeated Lash in the final of the Auckland Open.

Filling the top line on the men’s draw is Pakistan’s Muhammad Ashab Irfan, the world #62 who at just 20 years of age already has eight titles to his credit.

Bryan Lim (MAS) is the men’s second seed while Australia’s #2 ranked male Rhys Dowling is the top seeded local in the draw.

Australian players competing in the tournament will be accumulating points towards the Easy Times Brewing Co Australian Squash Tour standings.

After the opening event in Darwin two weeks ago, Brendan MacDonald sits atop the men’s standings while Rachael Grinham leads the women’s after the both made the semi-finals of the NT Open. MacDonald faces Hong Kong’s Shing Fung Lam on the opening day in Adelaide while Grinham faces 18-year-old Victorian Amelie Guziak.
