The Squash Australia Level 1 Coaching Course equips coaches with the knowledge and skills to prepare novice and intermediate players for competition in club, interclub and school settings. It combines online learning and a two-day practical course, with certification valid for three years. The program ensures coaches meet national and international standards through Squash Australia and World Squash Coaching integration.
What is the Level 1 Coaching Course
The Level 1 Coaching Course develops the capability of coaches to provide safe, effective and structured training environments for players at the club and community level. Coaches gain skills in planning, communication, player development and risk management, while applying training principles to enhance technical, physical and psychological performance.
How is the Course Applied
The course is delivered through online modules and a two-day practical workshop. Participants must complete training in areas such as community coaching essentials, safeguarding children, and officiating rules, as well as register for a World Squash Federation SPIN membership. Assessment is based on active participation, written and practical tasks, and demonstration of competence in coaching tools. Certification remains valid only with a current SPIN membership and a valid Working with Children Check.
Who is Eligible
Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time of certification and hold a minimum Squash Australia Support level membership. Coaches must also complete all required online modules, safeguarding and officiating courses, and maintain relevant checks and memberships. Recognition of Prior Learning is available for both domestic and international coaches whose experience or qualifications may align with Level 1 requirements.
