The Squash Australia Foundation Coaching Course is the entry point into coaching, designed for new coaches, players, parents, teachers and Sporting Schools providers. It is delivered fully online, takes around 6 to 8 hours, and provides the basic tools needed to run fun, safe and engaging sessions. Certification introduces coaches to the fundamentals of coaching and encourages supervised, practical experience with certified coaches.

What is the Foundation Coaching Course

The Foundation Course is an online learning program that covers core coaching skills, learning styles, rules of the game, safety, and effective ways to engage groups of beginner players. It equips participants to support juniors and beginner adults in community squash environments and emphasises motivation, skill development and safe practice. Foundation coaches are encouraged to gain further experience by working alongside experienced Squash Australia accredited coaches.

How is the Course Applied

The course is completed online through seven interactive modules, allowing participants to learn at their own pace. Learners are quizzed at the end of each module and must complete a final quiz to achieve certification. Foundation coaches are not considered practising coaches and should work under the supervision of certified coaches. Certification also requires acknowledgement of Squash Australia’s Coaches Code of Behaviour and Protective Eyewear Indemnity.

Who is Eligible

Applicants must be at least 16 years of age at the time of certification and hold a minimum 'Support' level Squash Australia membership. They must also complete the World Squash Officiating Level 0 Rules course, the Sport Integrity Australia Safeguarding Children course, and the World Squash Coaching Foundation Course. A valid Working with Children Check is required, along with agreement to Squash Australia’s Code of Behaviour and Protective Eyewear Indemnity.
