The Australian Institute of Sport's National Athlete Categorisation Framework (NACF) is used by state institutes/academies and National Sporting Organisation's to inform planning and prioritise support to Australian athletes.

The NACF has been developed to provide a consistent basis, both within and across sports to:

  • Identify the athletes with the greatest potential to contribute to Australia consistently winning medals at major international events;
  • Inform the prioritisation of support to these athletes; and
  • Track their performance over time.

Squash Australia's categorisation Performance Matrix and Guidelines has been updated in 2025 to align with updates to the National Athlete Categorisation Framework for the LA28 Cycle. More information on the NACF is available on the AIS website.
