World Squash Masters Championships ready to go

More than 900 competitors are set to descend on Perth for the 2026 World Squash Masters Championships from 30 August to 6 September.

Perth will become a meeting point for the global squash community with competitors from over 55 countries in action across three venues and eight days of competition.

Players aged 35-85+ will compete across multiple age categories, the event bringing together competitors from across Australia and around the world. The City of Stirling expects around 1,500 competitors, supporters and officials to visit Perth for the championships.

Squash Australia CEO Rob Donaghue said the World Squash Masters is an opportunity for players from different generations, countries and squash communities to come together around the sport, with the tournament program also featuring an opening ceremony, player function and closing celebration.

“The World Squash Masters Championships is about much more than competition,” Donaghue said. 

“It celebrates the lifelong journey of our sport, the dedication, resilience, friendship, and camaraderie that make the squash community so special. 

“It is a celebration of athletes who continue to challenge themselves, inspire others, and demonstrate that the love of the game knows no age.

“Squash continues to grow across Australia and around the world, reaching new communities, inspiring the next generation of players, and creating unforgettable moments on and off the court.”

The Championships will be held on 23 courts across Squashworld Mirrabooka (14), Belmont Saints Squash Centre (8) and Karrinyup Shopping Centre, where the championship will take squash outside the traditional club environment and into one of Perth's busiest public spaces.

The purpose-built all-glass show court at Karrinyup Shopping Centre will be a highlight of the championship, allowing players to compete in full view of shoppers and visitors and giving the sport an opportunity to reach audiences beyond the traditional squash community.

Karrinyup will host the latter stages of the championship, with the medal ceremony also scheduled to take place at the glass court on Sunday 6 September.

The partnership with Karrinyup is designed to bring the World Squash Masters Championships directly into the community. The centre attracts more than 13.4 million visitors annually, creating a significant public platform for the sport during the championships.

The schedule will build towards the business end of the championship, with quarter-finals on Friday 4 September, semi-finals on Saturday 5 September and finals on Sunday 6 September.

The Perth championships will be the sixth time Australia has hosted the World Masters, and the first since 2001. Previous editions were held in Australia in 1979, 1982, 1990, 1995 and 2001.

Australia has a strong history in the competition, having won more World Squash Masters medals than any other nation. 

With competition spread across three venues, players ranging from 35+ through to the 85+ men's category, and a purpose-built glass court bringing the sport into the heart of the community, the 2026 World Squash Masters Championships will showcase the breadth of squash and the people who continue to play, compete and contribute to the sport across generations.

Squash Stars Community Activation hosted at Karrinyup Shopping Centre will introduce squash in a fun and engaging way, welcoming participants of all ages and abilities. With interactive games, skill-based challenges, and an emphasis on fun, the activation site promotes squash, encourages active lifestyles, and inspire new players to step onto the court.

74 islands will be offering sampling stations throughout the event with opportunities to take home a special piece of Australia, while Feral Brewing Co will be running onsite bar service throughout the event and cross collaborating with venues across Perth including The Lucky Shag, The Good Company and The Sandbar all offering benefits to competitors.
