Published Fri 03 Jul 2026

Kicking off from 8-12 July, the Ford Bega Open 2026 stands as an all-female competition and is an important stop on the global and domestic squash circuit.

The tournament features a field of 24 Australian and international squash players, taking place at the Bega Country Club,

Joanne Joseph, Sarbani Maitra and Tina Ma will use this event as their final hit out before representing Australia at the 2026 Junior Squash World Championships in Ontario, Canada.

Reigning national champion Madison Lyon along with Alex Haydon, Sarah Cardwell, Erin Classen, Remashree Muniandy, Rachael Grinham and Hannah Slyth complete the strong Aussie contingent who will contest for the title of Ford Bega Open 2026 Women’s Champion.

For 2025 National Champion, Alex Haydon, the event marks her return to the PSA Tour after an 8-month absence battling injury. Haydon makes her return to competition with a first round clash against Canada’s Iman Shaheen, with former world #4 Joelle King awaiting the winner in the second round.

Filling the top line on the women’s draw is Hong Kong’s Tomato Ho. With a World Ranking of #41, she’ll be looking to improve her 2026 Australian Open Top 16 finish and take out the title.

2026 Australian Women's National Champion, Madison Lyon is the highest ranked Australian athlete, seeded fourth. Starting with a bye, Lyon will move directly into the second round. Her first opponent will be decided by the opening-round clash between world #149 Erisa Sano Herring of Japan and fellow Aussie Remashree Muniandy.

South Africa’s sole representative and world #62, Hayley Ward sits as the #2 seeded player in the tournament. Having reached the quarter-finals in 2025, Ward returns to the Ford Bega Open with the goal of surpassing her previous performance. The South African will commence her tournament in the second round, where she is set to face the victor of an all-Australian matchup between Hannah Slyth and Sarah Cardwell.

Play commences at the Ford Bega Open 2026 from 6pm AEST on July 8.
