Published Tue 14 Apr 2026

As we get to the pointy end of the 2026 Australian Junior Open, the semi final match ups emerge with strong homegrown and international talent set to battle it out for the grand final in each age division.

The top four seeds in the U19 Girls division remain with mouth-watering match ups set to take to the court tomorrow. Both crowned champions at the 2025 AJC for their respective age groups, Sarbani Maitra (QLD) and Tina Ma (VIC) will take to the court in one of the anticipated games of the round. 2026 Trans-Tasman Test Series Australian Co-Captain Joanne Joseph (VIC) will play Aria Bannister (NZL) in an international semi final.

Joseph’s fellow Co-Captain Jackson Wylie will be tested in his U19 Boys semi final against Maximus Mathews (NZL). Emerging star Kasper Cheung (NSW) will also play a cross-country rival in Brodie Bennett (NZL).

The U17 Girls semi finals, Isabella Wilcox (QLD) and Ruby Foo (WA) will fight for an all Aussie final when they take on their international rivals tomorrow. Andreas Christou (WA) is the sole Australian contender left in the U17 Boys semi finals, taking on Bihandu Nanayakkara (NZL) tomorrow.

Last year’s champion Emily Senior (JPN) is one step closer to claiming back-to-back titles. First, she will take on rising star Riyo Kawabata (QLD) in the U15 Girls semi final tomorrow. Julia (Min Yi) Chen (QLD) has fought bravely to progress to the semi final stage where she will take on #2 seed Kelihla Cheong (SGP).

In the U15 Boys semi finals, Benjamin Boardman (NSW) is set for a tough match with China’s Yuanbo Jia. With the #2 seed out, Thomas Wang (NSW) will have one eye on the grand final as he takes on outsider Kyan Phuah (MYS) in the semi final.

Abbey Boswell (QLD) and Meriam Ibradhim (VIC) are going strong in the U13 Girls division with international opponents lined up in the semi finals. U13 Boys  #1 seed Aleister Loo (VIC) will try to use homecourt advantage to defeat China’s Enze Guo in his semi final tomorrow. Hankins Leung (QLD) will have a tough match up against Cheuk Him Brody (HKG) in his semi final.

In the U11 Girls division, Ruisha Chu (NSW) will also fly the Aussie flag with three international rivals remaining in the draw. Meanwhile, an all Aussie U11 Boys final looks on the cards with #1 seed Nathan Lin (NSW) and #2 seed Freddie Goldsmith (VIC) the favourites for their semi finals.
