Salming extends partnership with Squash Australia

Squash Australia is pleased to announce a three-year extension in its partnership with Salming Australia.

The agreement will see Salming continue as the Official Squash Racquet and Shoe of Squash Australia and naming rights partner of the Salming Next Gen Squad.

The new deal coincides with the announcement of 19 junior athletes being named on the 2023 Salming Next Gen squad.

The Salming Next Gen Squad has been established to identify and support Australia’s best junior squash players in the Under 13 and Under 15 age groups who have the greatest chance of achieving outstanding results at future World Junior Championships.

“It’s really exciting that Salming and Squash Australia will remain together for another three years,” said Robert Donaghue, Squash Australia CEO. “This is a partnership in every sense of the word.

“Both organisations share a common ethos in nurturing athletes’ wellbeing both on and off the court, and it is something that is central to the Salming Next Gen Squad.

“The continuation of this partnership is tremendous news for our brightest young prospects who over the next few years will benefit greatly from the support they will receive in their sporting development.”

The Salming Next Gen Squad is an integral part of Squash Australia’s Performance Pathway, with participants targeting progression towards a National Junior Talent Squad in their final years as a junior.

Squad members gain access to Squash Australia’s National Coaching team for support and guidance and will receive invitations to annual Performance Pathway Camps in each state.

Steve Walton, Salming Global Racquet Sports Manager, is looking forward to seeing the next crop of Next Gen squad members benefit from the program.

“We’re just so passionate about seeing our best young players have the opportunity to improve and be the best players they can be,” said Walton. “It’s fantastic to see the benefits of our partnership with Squash Australia go directly towards the stars of tomorrow.

“It’s timely that we are able to announce the extension of this partnership on the eve of the Australian Junior Open where present and past members of the Salming Next Gen squad will no doubt be making their mark.”
