New Volunteer Hub Launches to Support Squash Communities Across Australia

Published Fri 01 Aug 2025

Squash Australia is proud to launch its new Volunteer Hub, a dedicated online resource designed to celebrate, support and grow volunteerism within squash across the country. The hub is now live at: squashaus.com.au/play/volunteering

The Volunteer Hub brings together key tools, information and inspiration to help clubs, events and programs attract, engage and retain volunteers. It includes information on how to get involved, practical guides, volunteer stories and upcoming opportunities to contribute at every level of the sport.

“Volunteers are the heart of squash,” said Shaun McEachin, Squash Australia's National Lead – Sport Development. “From refereeing and coaching to front-of-house and behind-the-scenes support, volunteers drive the sport forward every day.”

The launch supports Squash Australia's alignment with the Australian Sports Commission’s National Sport Volunteer Coalition Action Plan, which sets out a national commitment to reinvigorate and reimagine the sport volunteering experience. The Volunteer Hub is part of Squash Australia's commitment to providing inclusive, accessible and rewarding opportunities for people to get involved in ways that suit their interests and availability.

“Volunteer contribution was central to the success of the 2023 WSF World Junior Championships and the 2025 Squash Australian Open earlier this year,” McEachin added. “Looking ahead, major events such as the 2026 WSF World Masters Championships in Perth and the return of the Squash Australian Open to Brisbane will once again rely on passionate volunteers.”

The spirit of volunteerism fostered at international and national events is just as vital at the grassroots level.

“The spirit seen at these world-class events can and should flow through to clubs and communities right across Australia,” said McEachin. “This new Hub is a way to honour that contribution and make it easier than ever for people to get involved.”

Whether you are already volunteering or want to contribute to squash in your community, now is the time to step forward.
