Hong Kong Duo Dominate PSA Swarmer SA Open

Hong Kong’s Chi Him Wong and Heylie Fung have been crowned the champions of the 2026 PSA Swarmer SA Open.

The South Australian event took place in Adelaide from 20-24 May, with the Hong Kong duo delivering top-tier squash on the Next Generation Adelaide courts.

Chi Him Wong entered the men’s competition in the top seeded position, with a world ranking of #104. Undeterred by the pressure, even though he was well aware he exited the event in the first round last year, Wong went through the entire event without dropping a set. He was clinical in the final against Egyptian Louai Hafez, winning 11-8, 11-1, 11-3

The victory gives Wong his twelfth PSA title.

On the women's side, #2 seed player Heylie Fung (HKG) took out the title of Swarmer SA Women's Open Champion over Japan’s Akari Midorikawa. Fung was tested by her Japanese opponent, losing her only set of the tournament in the final before battling to win three straight sets and the title.

The Australians put together some strong showings for the home crowd. Top Australian male, Thomas Scott made it into the quarterfinals, alongside fellow countrymen Nicholas Calvert and Connor Hayes.

From the quartet of Australian females, Adelaide local Rema Muniandy, advanced into the quarterfinals, losing to #5 seed Bobo Lam (HKG).

General Manager of Squash SA, James Rogers, was really pleased with how the event ran over the course of the five days.

The event ran very smoothly. The Adelaide squash fans also enjoyed watching the pros play,” he said.
