Heo and Taylor crowned Victorian Open champions

The 2026 Victorian Open has wrapped up at Mulgrave Country Club, with South Korea’s Minyeong Heo and Wales’ Owain Taylor claiming the PSA titles after a thrilling week of action on the Australian Squash Tour.

Heo secured her maiden Victorian Open title in her fourth appearance at the tournament, overcoming seventh seed Sanya Vats of India in an impressive women’s final.

The fourth seed produced a strong run throughout the week before delivering in the final to claim her first Victorian Open crown.

In the men’s draw, second seed Taylor continued his strong Australian campaign by claiming back-to-back titles after defeating top seed and local favourite Dylan Molinaro in the final.

Taylor arrived in Melbourne following his City of Devonport Tasmanian Open triumph and capped off a successful Australian campaign with another impressive victory.

For Molinaro, reaching his first Victorian Open final marked another strong result on home soil, continuing his consistent form on the Australian Squash Tour.

Sarah Cardwell led the Australian women’s charge, progressing through to the semi-finals before her campaign came to an end against eventual champion Heo.

Fellow Australians Erin Classen and Alexandra Haydon also enjoyed strong runs, both reaching the quarter-finals in a competitive women's draw.

In the men's competition, Brendan MacDonald progressed to the quarter-finals, while Connor Hayes reached the second round.

The Victorian Open once again showcased the depth of squash in Australia, with local players testing themselves against international opposition across both the professional and graded competitions.

Attention now turns to the 2026 NSW Open PSA, with the Australian Squash Tour returning to Thornleigh Squash and Fitness from 4-8 November.
