Finals Set for 2026 Australian Junior Championships in Devonport

The top Australian junior players have secured their spot in the finals for a chance to be crowned national champion in Devonport.

The U11 Boys final will see the top two seeds, Freddie Goldsmith (VIC) and Jasper Tapley (WA) meet after they cruised through their semi final matches 3-0 respectively.

An all Queensland final awaits for the U13 Girls with No.1 seed Abbey Boswell and Hannah Leung. Boswell fought through a tough semi final match up with Ruisha Chu (NSW) with it going right down to the wire 3-2.

The U13 Boys will also be an exciting match up to watch unfold as top seeds Aleister Loo (VIC) and Nathan Lin (NSW).

No.2 seed in the U15 Girls, Elizabeth Wang (NSW), overcame a tough start to the match to secure victory 3-1 against Riyo Kawabata (QLD).

“At the start, I wasn’t playing my best. Towards the end, I slowed things down and did better serves and focused more on my shots. Cold water always helps regroup my mind.

“I’ll now go rest and watch some matches for some inspiration ahead of my game tomorrow,” Wang said.

Wang said it’ll be exciting to battle against Yashica Jiwa Mohan (VIC) in tomorrow’s U15 Girls final.

“It’ll be great. I have many people here supporting me here and I’m looking forward to that.”

The U15 Boys finalists were both tested in their semi finals clashes on day three. Naveen Sanghera (NSW) overcame a strong Grayson Coleman 3-1 (QLD) to book his spot in tomorrow’s final. His challenger Benjamin Boardman (NSW) also defeated Levi Moxey (QLD) 3-1 in their semi final.

U17 Girls 2025 champion Tina Ma (VIC) is on track to defend her title after delivering a clinical performance in her semi final match against Emilia Scott (NSW) 3-0.

After a super tight contest that saw a big crowd gather at Court 2, Olivia van Zon (SA) defeated No.2 seed Isabella Wilcox (QLD) to progress to tomorrow’s final.

U17 Boys top seed James Boswell (QLD) overcame a fighting Bryce Correa (SA) to win a tight contest 3-2 to progress to finals tomorrow. He will face No.2 seed Henry Kross (NSW) in what is set to be an exhilarating match up.

Defending U19 Girls champion Sarbani Maitra (QLD) looks in great touch to hold onto her crown with a 3-0 semi final victory against Amelia Brigden (VIC). Joanne Joseph (VIC) also secured a 3-0 win in her semi final match against Lilly Wilson (QLD). The final will be the third time they have met in the last match in the U19 Girls age group with both athletes competing in the 2026 Australian Junior Open and 2026 Oceania Junior Championships finals.

Kasper Cheung (NSW), who won the U17 Boys title in 2025, is the favourite for the U19 Boys title and showed his class winning his semi final against Connor Haberecht (VIC) 3-0.

“It’s a pretty special event. I’ve won it a few times now so I'm trying to keep that going. I’m trying my hardest to retain the title,” Cheung said.

He will now meet Ethan Middleton (NSW) in tomorrow’s U19 Boys final, who was decisive in his semi final match winning 3-0 against No.2 seed Stanley Chung (NSW).
