Australian girls reach World Junior Championships quarter-finals

Australia's junior women's team has secured a place in the quarter-finals of the World Junior Championships after a commanding 3-0 victory over Ireland, marking back-to-back quarter-final appearances at the prestigious event.

Joanne Joseph set the tone with a straight-games victory in the No. 2 string, before Sarbani Maitra sealed Australia's progression with an impressive performance at No. 1.

Despite facing a challenging opponent, Maitra showed her composure by coming from behind in all three games to claim a 3-0 win. Tina Ma completed the clean sweep, overcoming Ireland's No. 3 in four games to wrap up a dominant team performance.

Australia now faces the toughest test in the quarter-finals, taking on defending champions Egypt, who have held the Junior Women's Team title since 2007.

Meanwhile, the Australian boys' team exited the main draw after a 3-0 defeat to third seeds England in the Round of 16. The team will now contest the 9–16 classification playoffs as they look to secure the highest possible finishing position, with either India or Kuwait awaiting in their next match.
