2025 World Junior Championships Preview

A 12-strong contingent of Australia’s best junior squash players kick off their 2025 World Junior Championships campaigns in Cairo, Egypt today.
Host club, the Black Ball Sporting Club, welcomed players from 36 countries to the international event at last night’s Opening Ceremony where all twelve Australian players will feature in Round 1 action today.
Junior Women’s team captain Emmy Lamb (NSW) is the first Australian in action at 10:40am local time (5:40pm AEST). Emmy will be closely followed by the rest of the Australian women in their first round matches.
West Australian Hannah Slyth will be aiming for her best ever finish at her fourth and final World Junior Championships, while Miley Palmer fittingly makes her Australian debut in Cairo, the same city where her father David won his second World Championship in 2006.
Current Australian Junior Champion Sarbani Maitra (QLD) kicks off her campaign with a Trans-Tasman battle against New Zealand’s Aria Bannister, while Victorian duo Joanne Joseph and Tina Ma will open their World Juniors against Brazilian and Polish opponents respectively.
Winners of today's Womens Round 1 fixtures will progress to the second round, which will also take place late on Day 1 of the 2025 World Junior Championships in Cairo.
16-year old Kasper Cheung (NSW) is the first junior male in action on Monday. He’ll be followed by World Juniors debutants Joshua Raj (QLD), Marcus Wang (NSW) and junior men’s captain Jackson Wylie (NSW).
Victorian Haider Naqvi returns for his second World Juniors where he will face off against opposition from Macau on Monday afternoon, while fellow Victorian Darcy Hayes comes up against a Polish 17/32 seed in Round 1.
