New Video Technology a Game-Changer for Australian Squash Athletes

Australian athletes around the country have received a boost ahead of this month’s Commonwealth Games thanks to new state-of-the art video technology from the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS). The AIS Video Optimisation Grants program, supported by the Australian Government and in partnership with Australian company Fulcrum Technology, helps give coaches and athletes real-time feedback as they train.

After four action packed days, Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games debutant Jess Turnbull took out the women’s title, with Gold Coast 2018 team member Rex Hedrick crowned men’s champion.

Despite being six seeds lower than his opponent, Gregory Chan advanced to the quarterfinals with a 3-2 (11-5, 11-7, 3-11, 2-11, 11-9) victory over No.5 seed David Turner.

Squash Australia would like to congratulate Barbara Slotemaker de Bruine AM on her recognition in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours, as a Member of the Order of Australia (AM). Barbara was National Coaching Director from 1988 to 1992, became Australian Coach of the Year in 1993, and was awarded the Distinguished Service Award from Squash Australia in 2010 for her services to squash over 50 years.
